A club member asked me to work on her Beretta. Among other things, I’ve installed an adjustable Bomar-style rear sight, which required a much taller front sight than the original factory one. A quick search for readily available product revealed nothing, so I decided to make one.

I got a small piece of mild steel and set it up on my mill. A few simple cuts and the basic shape is done.

I decided to use my 65 degrees file to shape the dovetail.

After final filing, blasting and bluing here it is:

As it turned out, it still was too short, with the rear sight turned all the way down the gun still shoots 2-3 inches high at 25 yards, so I’m going to make a taller sight, but the process will be the same 🙂
