There’s a lot of information online about air travel with firearms, and I studied it all over and over again – but I’ve never actually flown with a gun until yesterday. The good news is that my travel was between gun friendly states AZ and TX, and the agent at the counter didn’t even raise his brow when I told him I’m traveling with the firearm. I didn’t even have to open the box to demonstrate that my gun was unloaded (not only it was unloaded, there was no ammo or magazines inside the case) and no TSA agents were nearby to inspect it. All I had to do is lock the case with the cable lock (the same kind that is included with almost every new gun and, from what I heard, can be cut using any generic household cutters) and put it in my checked luggage, right between my shirts and underwear. After I asked three or four times if I have to fill out any form, I was given this orange card, I signed it and it followed the gun box into my luggage. During my flight I opened the Delta app and tapped on “Track My Bags” option several times just to make sure that the bag was loaded onto my plane (and it was).
So what was in the case?
